Recording Visits (Issuing Accounts)

Batch bulk billing or Veterans Affairs claim vouchers for processing.

About this task

The following procedure describes the steps necessary for billing a bulk bill account. You can also bill to other types of accounts such as private and institutional accounts, and you can bill to multiple patients. See Recording Visits for detailed instructions.

Procedure

  1. In the Waiting Room, select the patient's record and press F5.
  2. In the Record Visit window, select Invoice To > Bulk Bill.
  3. If necessary:
    • In Seen By, select the consulting practitioner.
    • Click Referral, then select the referring practitioner.
    • In Location, select the location at which the consultation took place.
    • In Consult Time and Consult Date, enter the date and time of the visit.
  4. Add or modify the service item details:
    • A list of service items is available via File > Search Std Item List (or press Ctrl+S).
    • Optionally, add service item text in the Text column for each item.
    • A maximum of 14 service items (including incentive items) can be billed simultaneously. If you need to record more items, start another visit for the patient.
  5. Set In Hospital if the service was provided in-hospital. Select the Provider No (Facility ID).
  6. If the patient is removed from the Waiting Room, set Remove from Waiting Room.
  7. To print a voucher, set Print Voucher. You might unset this if, for example, you need to edit the voucher or have already printed a voucher and are now billing the patient. Specify the number of copies you want to print.
  8. Click Voucher to initiate the claim. If Online Patient Verification (OPV) is active and the patient's Medicare card details have not been recorded, enter them now. If their Medicare card is available, swipe it to enter their card number automatically.

Results

The claim is initiated.
