- Searching for Patients
  Search for patients using a standard or advanced search, by swiping a patient's Medicare card or by name in the Patient Details window.

Adding Next-of-Kin Records

Add a next-of-kin for a patient in your database.

About this task

A next-of-kin is a person who is:

Recorded as the next-of-kin for another patient in your database.
Not recorded as a patient in your database.

If a patient's next-of-kin wants to receive services as a patient at your practice, you must change their status to Active or Visiting. After they become a patient, they can continue to be the next-of-kin for another patient but their status can't be switched back to next-of-kin.

To create a new next-of-kin record:

Procedure

Either:
- Click .
- Press F6.
- Select Patient > Add New Patient > ..
In the Add New Patient window, in the Status list, select Next of Kin.
Enter other information as necessary. See Editing Patient Records for more information about the fields.
Click Save.

Results

This person can now be the next-of-kin for a patient.
