Payments and Receipts
Record payments and receipt-off accounts.
About this task
Most visits are paid for at the time the visit is recorded. However, sometimes you might need to make a payment or receipt-off
an account at a later time, such as when you have held
accounts.
Tip:
before you can receipt-off a
held account, you must first process the
held account.
Procedure
To record payments and receipt-off accounts:
- From the Waiting Room, select .
- In the Payment/Receipts for Selected Patients/Institutions window, select whether the payment is for a Private Patient, or Institution.
- Enter the patient's or institution's name.
- Click Search.
- If there are multiple matches or the search could not find an exact match, select the patient in the Select Patient window.
- In the Receipt window, in the Receipt Date calendar, select the date.
- In the Bank To list, select the bank account for the funds. The bank account for the patient's practitioner appears by default.
- In the Payment Details section, enter payment information for the items for which payment is due. A patient can make a single payment or a combination of payment types, to cover their due service item fees.

If the patient does not want to pay for all items at this time, in the
Payment Allocation section, locate the service items that are
being paid for with this payment.
- Double-click the Payment Allocation field for that item to allocate the full value of that item.
- Single-click the Payment Allocation field for that item and type the amount you want to allocate.
- Optionally, if you want to preview the receipt before printing it, set Print Preview.
- Optionally, in the Copies box, enter the number of copies of the receipt you want to print.
- Click Receipt.
