On the Old Server

Back up your data from the old server.

Before you begin

Ensure all prerequisites are met. For more information, see Prerequisites.

About this task

Back up the MedicalDirector Pracsoft data from the old server and store them on an external drive.

Procedure

To back up the data:
  1. Turn off Scheduled Document Import (SDI):
    1. Open MedicalDirector Maintenance.
    2. Select Database Tasks > MedicalDirector Clinical.
    3. Run the manage communication iconManage Communications utility.
    4. In the Manage Communications utility, set Import Database to Disabled.
  2. Clear the MD Exchange Registration:
    1. First, contact 1300 300 161 Customer Service on MedicalDirector. For more information, see MedicalDirector Contact Information.
    2. Provide the Old Server Name and New Server Name.
  3. Disable the MDXi Service:
    1. Go to Start > Run.
    2. In the field, type services.msc and click OK.
    3. Find the MDXI service.
    4. Right-click on the service and select Properties.
    5. Change the Startup type to Disabled.
  4. Back up the MedicalDirector data:
    1. Open MedicalDirector Maintenance.
    2. Select Maintenance Tasks > Common.
    3. Run the backup iconBackup utility. For more information, see Backup with the Backup Utilities.
  5. Copy the HCN Backup to an external drive.
    The default backup location is C:\HCN\Backups.
  6. To back up the HIC.PSI, copy the hic.psi file to the external drive.
    The default backup location is:
    • For 32 Bit OS - C:\Program Files\Common Files\PKI
    • For 64 Bit OS - C:\Program Files x86\Common Files\PKI

Results

Data from the old server data is backed up to the to the external drive.
